On a beautiful sunny southern California weekend Connie and Brendan began their journey as a married couple the way many picturesque romantic comedies begin, in a beautiful setting filled with love, laughter, and a little playful competition.
Their Chinese tea ceremony was filled with fun filled door games and the kind of loving warmth that happens when two families come together for a joyful union of love. What followed was an unforgettable celebration by the beach, that was equal parts modern chic as it was filled with heartfelt tradition. From Lego florals to emotional speeches and a dance floor where there was never a dull moment, their wedding felt like the perfect blend of the couple's elegance and their fun loving personality!

As midday approached, Connie sat radiant in a stunning red traditional Chinese qipao, its intricate embellishments feeling both timeless and refreshingly modern, as she waited with quiet excitement for her soon-to-be husband to arrive.
Brendan soon arrived, and the bridesmaids had some planned fun filled traditional door games that brought energy and laughter before Brendan could officially “win” his bride.
Once the excitment had settled and close friends and family had arrived, Connie and Brendan served tea to their elders, honoring family with a ceremony that felt deeply meaningful yet joyfully modern.
By the following day, the celebration moved oceanside to Pasea Hotel & Spa, where the California sun and sea breeze set the stage for a romantic outdoor ceremony.
At My Wedding Songbird, we collaborated closely with the couple to bring their vision to life an oceanfront ceremony layered in white florals, abundant greenery, and refined accents of red and gold, resulting in a palette that felt vibrant, modern, and joyfully celebratory. In a charming twist, Brendan happily walked down the aisle in a classic black tux adorned with a Lego floral boutonniere, when he reached the alter he then waited in an elegant and composed manor, which quickly changed to excitement and love as soon as he saw her.
Connie made her entrance in a dramatic ruffled ballgown that felt straight out of a fairy tale, voluminous, regal, and entirely unforgettable.
With their loved ones gathered close, they exchanged vows in a tender, emotional, and beautiful ceremony.
Following their vows, guests transitioned into cocktail hour where they were greeted by delicious appetizers and drinks as well as a seating chart that not only told the guests their seating assignments but told the story of Connie and Brendan’s love.
Instead of a traditional guest book, friends and family built miniature Lego creations to add to a display board, a playful detail that perfectly captured the couple’s personality.
Once cocktail hour was over guests made their way into an extravagant unforgettable indoor reception space where modern Chinese design elements met contemporary styling.
At each place setting, paper fan menus and petite gift boxes stamped with the double happiness symbol awaited guests homages to heritage woven thoughtfully into the design.
Once the guests has settled in to their seats it was time to welcome the wedding party into the space for their very grand entrance.
A perfectly cooked dinner was served, filling the room with the comforting energy that only great food and great company can create.
Speeches brought both heartfelt tears and bursts of laughter, celebrating not just a marriage, but years of friendship, growth, and shared history.
Reception games and evening activities had guests bursting with laughter and joy.
As the evening unfolded, a stunning four-tier wedding cake stood tall as both centerpiece and sweet finale.
In a cinematic move just like a happy ending in a summer rom-com, Connie and Brendan saved their first dance for the end of the night drawing every guest onto the dance floor for a lively conclusion to the celebration that felt electric. The kind of night guests would talk about for years to come.
Wedding planning doesn’t have to feel chaotic or stressful from the start. With the right structure, clear priorities, and support, it can be an exciting and meaningful process.
