For this event at Monserate Winery in Fallbrook, California, we wanted to explore what happens when classic Italian countryside romance meets modern Chinese American wedding design?

The result was a romantic Chinese-Italian fusion wedding blending the beauty of an Italian-inspired vineyard with the meaningful traditions of a Chinese American celebration.

The Design

One of the most exciting parts of this design was exploring how the same Chinese-Italian concept could be interpreted through different styles. A Ceremony Among the Vines

Framed by lakeside vineyard views under the winery’s elegant gazebo, garden-inspired arrangements brought a soft romance to the space. Delicate flowers climbed the surrounding columns and wrapped around the ceremony structure, blending Italian countryside charm with the symbolic Chinese-inspired floral touches featured throughout the design.

The Sage Table Inspired by The Italian Countryside

The sage green table leans into the Italian side of the inspiration. Natural greenery and soft sage tones create a fresh countryside feeling.

One of the most notable Italian-inspired details throughout the design was the use of lemons. Lemons pay homage to the Mediterranean landscape, with their bright yellow color creating a beautiful contrast against softer wedding palettes. Another standout point of the design was the patterned linens that were provided by Luxe Linens.

The Blue Table with Chinese Charm

The blue reception table brings another layer of Chinese influence into the design through chinoiserie-inspired vases and tabletop details.

By stepping away from traditional red and gold, this color scheme shows how Chinese-inspired design can beautifully honor heritage in a fresh, modern way. And thanks to Forklore Rentals we were able to bring this vision to life.

The Blush Table and Garden Romance

The blush table adds a touch of romance, creating a harmonious feeling to the space.Florals were another opportunity to connect the two worlds. With the help of The Flower Foundry we used soft garden-inspired arrangements in blush, peach, cream, lavender, dusty blue, and sage to create an organic European garden feeling, while elements such as orchids and cherry blossoms introduce recognizable Chinese floral influences.

The Sweetheart Table

For the sweetheart table, we wanted to keep the look soft, romantic, and welcoming. A beautiful floral arrangement runs along the front of the table, bringing together blush, peach, cream, and soft pink blooms. Delicate pink napkins and sage green plates add another layer of color while keeping the setting light and elegant.

The Double Happiness Symbol

Last but not least, the Double Happiness symbol, traditionally associated with Chinese weddings and marital joy, was incorporated as a meaningful design motif.

The symbol appears as an intentional detail placed throughout the overall design such as the welcome area, seating chart, as well as the cake table.

A Celebration of Chinese Wedding Attire

Of course, cultural beauty does not have to stop at the décor.

For this event, with the help of East Meets Dress and Friar Tux the styling embraced that same philosophy combining the romance of a Western vineyard with Chinese wedding attire traditions.

Designing a Chinese American Wedding That Feels Like You

One of our favorite things about working with Chinese-American couples is that there is no single way a Chinese wedding has to look.

Some couples want a celebration rich with traditional symbolism, red and gold, tea ceremonies, and multiple cultural traditions. Others want something much more subtle, perhaps a Western ceremony and reception with a tea ceremony, traditional attire, meaningful colors, or small cultural details woven throughout the day.

That is where thoughtful wedding design comes in.

Your heritage does not have to compete with your wedding venue. Your venue does not have to dictate your cultural expression. With intentional planning and design, the two can become part of the same story.
